Crime is down 32 per cent since 1997 and the risk of being a victim of crime is at the lowest level ever recorded. Overall crime in Doncaster is also falling. Home Office figures show 15% fewer reported offences between April and September 2008 than compared to last year.
However, this is little consolation to those who are the victim of crimes. Statistics will not help those who continue to feel threatened in their own homes and neighbourhoods.
Rosie knows there are still problems in some areas of Doncaster and believes the best way to overcome them is by the police engaging with the local community.
Rosie held her first Coffee, Crime and Chat event in Edenthorpe in January 2009. It gave local residents an opportunity to discuss their concerns with Rosie and their local SNT. She plans to hold more acorss Doncaster Central throughout the year.
