Transport affects everyone in Doncaster, it is a key ingredient for a strong economy because it provides better access to jobs, services and leisure activities.

Rosie was Transport Minister from June 2007 to October 2008 and was deeply involved in issues surrounding local transport. Rosie is proud that the post-war decline in passenger numbers has stopped and we have seen the first sustained year-on-year increases in bus patronage for decades.

Around 11 million older and disabled people have gained better access to vital services and leisure opportunities since 1 April 2008 when the statutory bus concession was extended to free off-peak local bus travel anywhere in England. By removing local authority boundaries as a barrier to free bus travel no older or disabled person in England need be prevented from bus travel by cost alone.

Most local and regional services are the responsibility of the local authorities or passenger transport executives. South Yorkshire PTE is responsible for Doncaster bus and rail services.
