The Town Moor Ward was created from part of the old Wheatley and Town Field wards, as well as the ward of Intake.
It is a largely urban ward, although the Moor itself is the largest green space in central Doncaster. This ward is also home to the Town Moor Golf Course, as well as the Doncaster Racecourse.
Established in the 1700s, the racecourse is one of the oldest in the country and is the home of the St Ledger Stakes, the oldest classic horse race in the world.
