Westminster News / MP graduates from forces programme
Rosie has graduated from a scheme which gives politicians experience of life in the armed forces.
She spent time aboard HMS Dauntless and visited British troops in Afghanistan as part of the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme (AFPS).
She was presented with a ‘graduation certificate’ by AFPS Life President Sir Neil Thorne and said: “MPs have the responsibility of deciding when to send our servicemen and women into action, and for that reason it’s vital we see how the armed forces operate and understand the situations and dangers soldiers, sailors and air force personnel face.”
The scheme is run to give MPs experience of the various services.
Its aim is to improve the quality of debate on military issues, by exposing its members to first-hand experience of the services.
Rosie holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant Commander.
