A school is preparing its pupils to become ‘global citizens of the future’.

Youngsters at Hexthorpe Primary, in Urban Road, spent a day finding out more about the world at their International Summer Fayre.

Rosie attended the colourful event, along with Cllrs John McHale, Sue Wilkinson and Glyn Jones, the borough’s deputy mayor.

Rosie said: “The world is becoming much more accessible so it’s more important than ever children have an understanding of other countries and their cultures, as well as our own country.”

Headteacher Liz Ellison said: “The International Summer Fayre at Hexthorpe Primary is an ideal way to celebrate our school and community’s cultural diversity.

“The school’s curriculum is focused on developing children as global citizens of the future.”
