Local News / Rosie receives warm weclome
Rosie visited the home of Balby resident, Ian Hamer, to help raise awareness of the Warm Homes Campaign for 2009.
Mr Hamer invited Rosie into his home to see the improvements made under the Government’s Warm Front scheme.
The Warm Homes Campaign is led by campaigning charity National Energy Action, and sponsored by ScottishPower, and the Department for Energy and Climate Change, to raise awareness of fuel poverty, the effects it has on over 5 million households across the country, and the help and support that is available to prevent it.
Mr Hamer contacted the Government’s Warm Front scheme when his boiler stopped working.
Mr Hamer said:
"The work done has been fantastic. The house has benefited from the installation of a replacement gas boiler, and I have been given some useful energy advice to help keep the family warm, healthy and out of debt. The heating doesn't need to be on long before it gets the whole house warm and it stays warm. It was all done without any cost to us which was a huge relief.”
Rosie said:
“The most important message of this campaign is that there is help out there for vulnerable households. I enjoyed meeting with Mr Hamer and hearing about his experiences. The winter is a difficult time for many households in the UK and with energy prices remaining high it is important to look at ways in improving energy efficiency to bring people’s energy bills down and make homes healthier to live in. It is because of this I am supporting the Warm Homes Campaign.”
People in Doncaster can contact the Home Heat Helpline on 0800 33 66 99 to access help and advice on staying warm in their home this winter.
