Residents at HC-One’s The Beeches Care Home in Doncaster gave a warm welcome to local MP Dame Rosie Winterton, who stopped by the home to meet Residents and members of the team, and celebrate the harvest with them.

HC-One homes up and down the country took part in the harvest festival, all in support of Silver Sunday, an
annual day of fun and free activities to help combat loneliness amongst older people across the UK. Led by The Sir Simon Milton Foundation, Silver Sunday aims to celebrate older people and their place in the community, as well as increasing their happiness and wellbeing.

Rosie was heartened to see the impact the Silver Sunday initiative had on the home, as everyone came together to celebrate the harvest time and get to know each other. She was taken on a tour of the home and shown everything life at The Beeches has to offer, and was delighted to see such high standards of care being provided to elderly people in their constituency.

Residents had completed plenty of fun arts and crafts activities to see the home looking its best for the
festival, and everyone joined in with treats and entertainment, before passing over lots of donated food from relatives and members of the local community to the Doncaster foodbank. As the weather gets colder, it’s important that vulnerable receive the care and provisions they need – HC-One is proud to support this not just through the kindness of care received by Residents, but by assisting with food provisions for those unable to buy any for themselves.

HC-One aims to be the first-choice care provider in each of its communities for Residents looking for the very best care and support, and the employer of choice for the best, most professional, and kindest care staff, with sector leading career progression opportunities. HC-One consistently invests in staff and is currently celebrating achieving a 9.5/10 average rating on the sector’s leading care home comparison website carehome.co.uk, with The Beeches itself achieving an impressive 9.8 rating. This high rating puts HC-One homes into the very best company in the care home sector.

Dame Rosie Winterton, MP for Doncaster Central, said:

“It was fantastic to join in and see the local community pull together for the Harvest celebrations in support of Silver Sunday.  Activities like this go a long way in tackling loneliness in our communities and I would like to thank HC-One for inviting me to share the day with them and the residents”.

HC-One The Beeches Care Home Manager, Beatrice Gibbons, said:

“We are very grateful to Dame Rosie Winterton for taking the time to visit us here at The Beeches. The Residents were very excited to meet Rosie, and it was lovely to take the time to show them around and demonstrate the high standards of kindness and care HC-One is providing in the Doncaster community.
