On Wednesday 19 September over 650 young people and their guests took part in the National Citizen Service (NCS) Graduation Ceremony.

Dame Rosie Winterton joined the celebrations and congratulated the graduates on their achievements over the summer.

Dame Rosie Winterton said “Today is when the graduates collect their certificates, but I know that they will be taking much more away from this experience than a piece of paper, as the memories of their shared
experience, the skills learnt and friendships formed over the summer will endure.”

NCS is a national programme and Club Doncaster Foundation has had 665 young people in Doncaster take part this summer, delivering over 40 Social Action projects within the local community.  The programme challenges young people to try something new, learn new skills whilst meeting new friends and making a
positive impact in the local community.

The first phase involves outdoor team building exercises and the second phase is a residential for participants to learn ‘life skills.’  The third phase is spent putting all these new skills into practice when the teens plan and carry out a social action project.
