Potteric Carr Nature Reserve is the largest urban nature reserve in the UK and boasts a wide range of habitats including wetlands, mature woodlands and meadows and attracts visitors to see the many species of animals and birds, including breeding speciies such as the iconic bittern, marsh harriers, barn owls, kingfishers, water voles and grass snakes.

Rosie opened the new Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Visitor Centre which will enhance the experience of visitors to the reserve.  The visitor centre commands lovely views over one of the nature reserve's lakes, it boasts a shop with a wide range of gifts, books and binoculars, a welcoming tearoom, outdoor deck and meeting space.

The visitor centre acts as a gateway to the nature reserve which has several miles of level trails and a large number of hides from which visitors can expect fantastic views.
