Friday 25 November, Rosie visited Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Primary School in Armthorpe to meet with students and talk to them about her work as a Member of Parliament and how Parliament works.

The school invited Rosie to talk to the students in Class 6, year 5/6, following Rosie writing to schools in her constituency about Parliament Week, which takes place annually and is an opportunity for young people to learn about our democracy and how Parliament works.  Rosie spoke with students and then opened this up to answer questions.  Rosie said “I was really impressed with the pupils at Our Lady of Sorrows, who had a real interest in what happens in Parliament and how we make our laws, and it was a pleasure to meet with them today.

I was also pleased to have had the opportunity to meet with some of the teachers and support staff in the
school.  It takes a whole team to make a safe and interesting place for children to learn and the admin staff, caterers, cleaners and caretakers and other support staff are vital to the effective running of a school.
Today is also the national ‘Stars in our School’ day, organised by Unison to celebrate the work they do in schools.  There are more than half a million school support staff in the UK, including teaching and classroom assistants, school business managers, catering and cleaning staff, IT, HR and finance staff, facilities and maintenance staff, librarians, technicians and caretakers.
