On Friday 1 July, Canon Popham C of E Primary School hosted for the second year running, Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life on the school playing field and have invited Rosie to start the race and present medals to those taking part.

Pupils at the school joined forces with parents, teachers and governors to take on cancer and walk,
jog or run a two mile course around the school field (8 laps.)  The whole school is supporting the event to
raise funds for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work.

Rosie said “Last year Canon Popham raised over £2,000 pounds for Cancer Research and I am delighted to have been invited again this year to start the school’s Race for Life.

Everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer and well done to everyone who has organised or it taking part in this special event, having fun whilst raising funds for a really good cause”

In 2015, 1826 schools across the UK took part in Race for Life Schools and together they raised nearly £1 million to help beat cancer sooner. Race for Life Schools is now in its fifth year and 2016 is set to be bigger and better than ever. Cancer Research UK hopes around 2100 schools across the UK will hold their own event and raise over £1 million to help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
