Dame Rosie Winterton DBE, MP for Doncaster Central, has written to a number of businesses in her constituency with information on how to sign up to the Armed Forces Covenant which is a promise by the nation to ensure that those who serve and have served in the Armed Forces and their families are treated
fairly.

Rosie says “It is welcome that nationally over 800 businesses have signed the Covenant.  I would like to see more employers and businesses in Doncaster get involved and be recognised for supporting the employment of Veterans, Reservists and spouses and ensuring that our Armed Forces can access the commercial goods and services they need whilst overseas.”

Businesses and charitable organisations who wish to demonstrate their support for the Armed Forces community can sign the Covenant.  Organisations can make a range of written and publicised promises to set out their support to members of the Armed Forces community who work in their business or access their products and services.

Once a business has signed a pledge document setting out
what their covenant seeks to achieve, their commitment can be registered and
they will be provided with a letter giving permission to use the logo for the
next five years.  The Employer
Recognition Scheme (ERS) publically recognises employers’ efforts to support
Defence personnel issues.
