Bessacarr village has expanded hugely since the Second World War, and is now one of the largest villages in the country.

Cantley is adjacent to Bessacarr, separated by Bawtry Road. The majority of Cantley was built after World War II, with many of its houses 1950's built semi-detached or small terraces. It mainly consists of housing estates, some council estates, plus a large park and areas of woodland.

The Cantley Library is situated at St Wilfrids. There is also a Co-Op on Goodison Boulevarde, and two petrol stations. Cantley has good transport links into Doncaster with a regular bus service, and is a popular retirement village for many people.
